Project JPS

The story of Project JPS:

I bought this 1968 Camaro in 1988. My best friend John Soltis was with me the day I bought it. I was extremely excited to find it as an all original, matching number car that even had the "Protect-o-Plate". I began to restore it and John helped me.

A little less than a year later I decided I wanted a '57 Chevy so I decided to sell the Camaro. John wasn't happy. He said "you can't sell that car, look at all the work we've done on it". I was a stubborn kid and that was not going to stop me so it went up for sale.

About two weeks later, John was in an accident which totaled his Honda. I guess it was fate because he bought the Camaro from me with the insurance check. John was so happy. He drove that car through his time at UCLA and eventually to his first job.

Sometime in 1993 it was hit in the front bumper. It was then that John decided to park it until we could finish the restoration. We talked about it for years. We even made plans and parts lists. We were going to get it done "some day". But, unfortunately, "some day" never came.

Sadly I lost my best friend John Philip Soltis in March of 2018. He was only 49.

My sons, my nephew and I will be finishing the restoration as a tribute to John. Please follow along on Instagram, YouTube and Facebook.
